I'm speaking on learning from the HIV movement and disability justice to confront ME/CFS in the time of Long COVID
hey all -
Lots going on… But in the meantime, here’s a quick note to invite you to an event coming up this Wednesday! More info and registration link below — and now I go back to making slides for the talk. Hope you can join the conversation at the event.
Mass ME/CFS Assoc. - US Action Working Group webinar with JD Davids
When: Wednesday, April 20, 2022, 4:00 pm ET
The U.S. Action Working Group invites you to hear JD Davids, a longtime health justice activist living with ME and Long COVID: “From Chronic Injustice to Health Equity: Learning from the HIV movement and disability justice to confront ME/CFS in the time of Long COVID.”
ME and related complex chronic conditions are receiving new attention, as millions are newly experiencing them due to Long COVID. How can chronically ill and disabled advocates approach this time of challenge and opportunity, amidst a reactionary political climate, pernicious ableism, stigma and misogyny, and even as significant risks of COVID-19 persist for our communities?
JD will discuss current strategies for shifting the narrative on ME, Long COVID, and complex chronic conditions, using lessons from HIV activism, disability justice, community mobilization, and alliance building from his decades of movement work.
